The Museum Carnavalet occupies at once the hotel Carnavalet and the hotel The Peletier of Holy fargeau. The two buildings are linked up by a gallery. The hotel The Peletier of Holy fargeau (29 streets of Sévigné) was constructed in 1687 by the architect Rock Bullet for Michel the Peletier, lord of Souzy and steward of the Finances. The Peletier of Holy fargeau, that had voted the death of Louis XVI, will be murdered in 1793 by the former guard of the body of the king, Pâris. The Convention will reserve for him national funeral.

The statue of Louis XIV by Coysevox to the center of the course, exemplary unique to have escaped the bottom during the Revolution, has his good day to his presence inside the town hall. The Paris people did not imagine the presence of monarchic symbols to this place. The buildings that trim the beautiful gardens are XIXème century.
