Modern Art Museum of the city of Paris

Constructs for the international exposition of 1937, on the two hectares of the military former Manutention previously occupied by the factory of the edified Savonnerie of the time of Louis XIII, this building will shelter the art collections modern of the state even then exposed in the orangerie of the Luxembourg, and the one of the City of preserved Paris to the Small Palace. The Center Pompidou will inherit first. The palace of Tokyo accommodates today European Foundation of the trades of the picture and sound, The Kinematic Frenchwoman, the national Center of the Photograph and the photographic Heritage.

The architecture competition open in 1935 will receive about 130 projects, of which those of The Corbusier and of mallet- stevens. The jury will keep finally the one of the architects Aubert, Dastugue, Dondel, Viard that will propose a portique to doubles colonnade surrounding a central patio separating the two museums. The foundations in concrete will be filled with hollow bricks themselves covered with rock flagstones: comblanchien for the principal and lateral facades, massangis for the one of the New York avenue, and French travertin for the bases and the columns.
