A highly commendable address in the Bastille neighbourhood where, as everyone knows, the best and the worst rub shoulders. Located in a street where it's virtually impossible to park, La Scène certainly fits the bill if you're looking for a unique spot to have a unique evening. On the ground floor, there is a laid- back restaurant, in contrast to the electric ambience of the adjoining concert room. Well- spaced tables with white tablecloths and chandeliers, plus attentive service. The menu proposes unembellished dishes: spiced duck liver paté, fried squid with Serrano ham, Scottish smoked salmon, filet of red mullet, fricassee of chanterelle mushrooms served with Remy Martin X.O. cognac, beef tartar (raw or pan fried), etc. You'll have no complaints food- wise in the Remy Lounge either. Sponsored by the Cognac brand and situated on the first floor, it's got wooden beams and decor but above all a fabulous bay window overlooking the concert room (where everyone stands, what else?), which welcomes well- known groups of musicians and singers, some of whom are regularly mentioned in our columns, like Astonvilla. If you happen to be there on a good concert night, it will be an unforgettable experience; if not, you'll still have a great evening. Concerts start at 9 p.m. during the week and at 11 p.m. on the weekend. Entrance: 9.50€, free entry for restaurant clients. Count on 45€ a head for a full dinner.
